CONSTELLATIONS별자리
2021– Constellations are vast paintings drawn across the sky. Their sculptural forms select and connect points in the sky, much like the process of sketching and imagining images. White stars sparkle against the black night sky, creating contrasts of light and shadow, revealing shapes and contours.
Though the night sky is merely an abstract space filled with countless white points, we connect these stars with invisible lines, imagining images. I often find myself gazing at Orion and Mars, imagining characters from myths. Reflecting on the origins of constellation motifs in the past, I endeavor to create new constellation landscapes by incorporating present-day scenery. By shifting the grounds of constellations from the sky to the earth, I imbue them with personal memories and experiences, intertwining them with the celestial.별자리는 하늘에 그린 거대한 그림이다. 별자리의 조형은 하늘을 지지체 삼아 점을 선별하고 연결하며, 이미지를 상상하고 그려 넣는다는 점에서 그림을 그리는 과정과 유사하다. 하얀 별은 검은 밤하늘을 바탕과 명암 대비를 이루며 반짝인다. 밝음과 어두움 사이에서 형상이 빚어지고 윤곽이 드러난다. 
밤하늘은 단지 무수한 하얀 점이 펼쳐진 추상적인 공간일 뿐임에도, 우리는 별을 보이지 않는 선으로 연결하며 이미지를 상상한다. 나는 하늘에서 쉽게 바라볼 수 있는 오리온자리와 화성을 바라보며 신화 속 인물을 상상하곤 한다. 별자리의 모티브가 과거에 기원을 두고 있다고 생각하며, 현재의 풍경을 대입한 새로운 별자리 풍경을 그려보고자 하였다. 하늘에서 지상으로 별자리의 터전을 옮김으로써, 별자리에 사적 기억과 경험을 부여하였다.
